Lesson 2.3 Information Architecture

For this lesson task, take a look at this website. https://www.pennyjuice.com

Step 1
I have Go through the content on the website and conduct a content audit. List all the information and elements included in the website on a spreadsheet (like Google Sheets).

Step 2
Now, plan the information architecture using the card sorting technique. You can conduct a simple card sorting session using pieces of paper (with the help of friends or family), or you can use an online tool like Miro. When you’re done with the card sort, analyze your results.

In this task, I had to use all the information on the website. First, I had to do an audit to see all the elements there, and from there, I started to remove what I didn’t need and what I needed to organize. For this, I use a program called Miro. Lastly, we were to make a flat design of a new design for the website. After sorting the information, I designed the new home page in InDesign. Many things could be tidied up, so there wasn’t too much information being given simultaneously. Make the categories more clear. There is one with a bit of info about the product and a button to order now, and the other has some more facts and is supposed to be a link to the About us page where they can read more about the juice and the company.

Step 3
Finally, take what you have learned and redesign the homepage along with the website’s primary navigation. Use the design software of your choice to create a flat design; it doesn’t have to be interactive. If you would like, you can also draw a simple diagram of the main steps you think the user will take (the user flow).
